Creative & Competitive Leading Chemical Company

R&D Center

NH Chemical R&D Center is continuing the efforts to realize the core value of the Company of “developing new products for leading the market, producing the best products for customer satisfaction, and a trusted company contributing to the society” through technical development.
Currently the main product of PAG (Polyalkylene Glycol) used as the ingredient for special industrial lubricant is already acknowledged of its world’s top quality. NH Chemical will not settle on this accomplishment, and will expand the product types and technical support capabilities in this field to maintain the competitive advantage continuously.
Research fields for supplementing the existing business that is gradually being bulk chemical oriented, and for the new types of businesses in the future:
  • Development of various specialty products combining PAG with technologies of other fields
  • Development of eco-friendly & highly functional surfactants/additives
  • Researches for advancing into the material field in the electronic industry that the Republic of  Korea is strong in along  with the existing traditional chemical industries
NH Chemical is continuing the following efforts for sustainable R&D:
  • Research manpower ratio is maintained to be 15% of  the total number of  employees, and over 4%  of  the gross sales amount is invested continuously in R&D.
  • Open innovation is pursued by establishing networks with the domestic & foreign companies with the relevant demand, universities and research organizations.

Main Research Fields

01

Industrial Lube Base Oil
Polyalkylene glycol

NH Chemical is continuing the efforts on reinforcing the competitiveness in the existing business sectors, and also on developing high functional products for various industrial lube base oils (Fire Resistant Hydraulic Fluids, Compressor Lubricants, Gear Lubricants, Automotive Applications, Textile Lubricants, Metalworking fluids).

02

Eco-friendly
Surfactant

We are performing research on developing high-quality & eco-friendly surfactants for the future generation. Especially, research is focused on the surfactant that can replace the EDC (Endocrine-disrupting Chemical) substance of nonylphenol(Nonylphenol ethoxylates).

03

Refrigerant Oil

According to the ‘Montreal Protocol; regulations on the production and use of ozone layer depleting substances’ that was adopted in 1987, the Republic of Korea was acknowledged of the status as the developing country from 1994, but according to the changes in the industrial environment of refrigerants, alternative refrigerating machine oil was required. In the present, NH Chemical possesses the manufacturing technology of the refrigerating machine oil that complies with the universal refrigerant R134a. In the future, the refrigerating machine oil complying with the next-generation refrigerant of  R1234yf and the refrigerating machine oil complying with electric vehicles will also be developed.

04
